Gabriel Fahrenheit, a physician proposed Fahrenheit scale which measures the temperature of different bodies.

Importance: United States (US) used this scale in order to determine temperature between two points. The scale has two preset points;

i. 32ºF is lower point of the scale which corresponds to freezing point of water or melting point of ice.

ii. 212ºF is referred as the boiling point of water.

According to this scale, normal temperature of human body is 96.7ºF. Fahrenheit generates more precise measurement and it is useful in measuring the temperature of air. It is more sensitive to weather and atmospheric changes as compared to other temperature units.

Symbol and Unit: It is considered as the standard unit of measuring temperature in US. The symbol ºF is used for Fahrenheit.
